Ann
L. White – 2002 Healthcare Winner

LT Ann L. White was born in Connecticut in 1960, and
graduated from Old Dominion University in 1983 with a degree in Biology. She was
accepted for a commission in the U.S. Navy two years later to pursue a career in
Naval aviation. After this commission, she worked in private industry as an
environmental engineer and marketing manager; this work contributed to the
successful public stock offer of her company of employ. Ann was then promoted to
Director of Corporate Development and contributed to this company’s growth via
work in joint ventures, mergers and business acquisitions.
During this time she made various public speaking engagements and
appeared twice on educational television. In
1993, she submitted to a long-time call to study medicine (via the Navy HPSP
program) and completed an internship in Family Practice in 1997.
She graduated from Naval Flight Surgeon training in July 1999, and is now
employed with the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute in Pensacola.
Ann is the founder of Eagle’s Flight Ministries in
Pensacola, Florida, which provides transportation for inner city children to
local Christian churches and community events. By supporting over 20 fatherless
children and teens, she affects the emotional, spiritual and financial support
to single mothers. She has volunteered countless hours of educational and
religious instruction and has provided safe houses for families in emergent
cases.
Ann has been recognized for her military achievements by
receiving the National Defense Medal, Navy Achievement Medal. She is a member of
the Society of U.S. Navy Flight Surgeons. Her hobbies and interests include
flying (private pilot since 1986), sailing, skiing, playing racquetball, and
writing books and music.
