National Community, Under 21, Winner

Mercy Health Partners, Toledo, Ohio

Kelleigh Nolder, a 14-year-old from Maumee, OH, has proven herself as a leader in every aspect of her life: school, community and family.  She has a tremendous desire to get involved with projects that truly make a difference.

The key to Kelleigh's strength and giving nature seems to be her connection to her family.  When her grandparents became ill, Kelleigh could be found on a daily basis assisting with their care.  She helped with the cooking, cleaning, bathing and household chores.  Kelleigh's experience with her grandparents solidified her desire to be a nurse.  She is a perfect example for members of the younger generation, who can be inspired by older generations, to care for others.

Kelleigh's giving nature also shines through in the way she has embraced volunteerism.  In preparation for her career as a nurse, Kelleigh volunteers at Browning Nursing Home, The Elizabeth Scott House, Swan Palace Nursing Home, Wolf Creek Lutheran Homes and a nursing home in Bowling Green, Ohio.

Kelleigh spends many of her weekends volunteering in other areas as well.  She is a frequent contributor to the Shrine Circus and volunteers for Lucas County Library and the Authors to Authors Program. Kelleigh is a well-rounded, well-adjusted young woman whose priorities are clearly in place.  She has a strong foundation of values that will serve as the basis for her future success.
