Despite the dizziness, fatigue and weakness that can occur with MS, Kristine made up her mind to improve the world around her. She accepted the challenge from her county to establish a much-needed hospice program and dedicated herself to the families and individuals dealing with terminal illness. Kristine worked tirelessly to ensure that they would have the respite and grief services they needed in order to find peace of mind, comfort and companionship. It is because of her dream and her work, that terminally ill patients in Putnam County, Ohio have the caring and compassionate services of a hospice.
Kristine has a great deal of compassion for human suffering, yet she lives her life with joy and enthusiasm. She displays the qualities of determination and steadfastness as evidenced by the fact that she's obtained her master's degree and gained certification as a family nurse practitioner.
Our national winner says that if it had not been for the challenges posed by a chronic disease, she may not have accomplished as much. The MS has given her another avenue with which to reach out and help others. Kristine serves as a resource person, confidant and example for other young persons with MS, teaching them about the disease, offering them support… and most importantly…offering them hope.
Kristine Kaufman is an inspiration to many.
Our special congratulations to Kristine, our Spirit of Women National Winner in the Healthcare Provider Category.
